About

Since childhood I was attracted to textiles, fibers and yarns and have always been sewing, crocheting or knitting. A couple of years ago I discovered quilting and am still fascinated by the miscellaneous surface design possibilities in combination with the plasticity of the quilting. Soon I started designing and creating landscape- and artquilts.

The last 2 years I attended various workshops with international teachers, quilters and fiber artists. I experimented with new and well-known materials, media and techniques. Freemotion embroidery, wet- and needlefelting, silkfusion, dyeing and painting fabrics, transparent fabrics, foils, water soluble stabilizers, heatgun, soldering iron, polymer clay, tyvek, acrylic felt and more. I use whatever is needed to get the desired result. Actually I work more with traditional techniques and natural materials. I dye or paint my fabric, mostly cotton or silk, before I add freemotion embroidery and quilt or frame my work.

I study chromatics and design elements autodidactic and started to draw and paint drafts. This way I can understand the subject first, before translating it into fibers.

These artists influence me strongly: Paul Signac, Georges Seurat, Vincent Van Gogh, Val Campbell-Harding, Val Holmes, Linda Schmidt, Marilyn Belford und Susan Brittingham.

I'm a member of patCHquilt Association of Swiss Quilters, of SAQA Studio ArtQuilters Association and of SDA Surface Design Association.

In 2006 I started Playways, a distant learning course in modules with Dale Rollerson (AUS). I passed the first module in January 2007.

In 2007 I will start the cours with Siân Martin, Distant Stitch, to obtain the british City and Guilds certificate stitched textiles level 3.
